Getting StartedCreating or enhancing a page is easy. Simply go to the sandbox and choose "edit" from the pop-out menu (on the top-right corner). When you've finished, click the "save" button (from the toolbar) and your page is online. To create new pages, we ask you to register a free account (via the pop-out menu, again). This gives you your own namespace where your pages will reside in. Herein, you can create new pages and make your presence grow. To go to your namespace, click in your username in the pop-out menu (top-right corner, you know;-) After creating your very first page, you can set the meta information (title, language, description) and eventually a page password, both from the toolbar via the page-settings and page-access buttons. Once again, click on the floppy icon to save and publish your site. Adding another page is straight forward. Choose the new-page button from the toolbar and voila: you can write another shiny page. Use Cases
FeaturesSimplicityWhen we designed Shinypages, we aimed for simplicity. We wanted to create a tool that could be used by our mothers and sisters, by anyone without deep knowledge of the underlying technology. That's why we decided to keep things simple and functional. You can see this in the pop-out menu, from where you can access the core features of Shinypages - the editor, your account settings and the navigation.
What You See is What You GetShinypages comes along with an intuitive interface that feels like your well-known word processor. Simply choose "edit" from the pop-out menu (top-right on every page) and start typing, as long as you have permission to this particular page.
Collaborative WorkWe have introduced a feature that is called page passwords. This enables you to protect your pages with separate read and write passwords. So, you can preserve your privacy and invite others to contribute to your pages. This feature is especially useful for groups where many members shall work on a document or where you want to lock out the general public. To set passwords for your pages, choose the "lock icon" from the editor and check the desired type of password. Logging of ChangesThat's no big deal, but useful. When you save a page, you are asked to describe this change. From your information, the page-specific changelog is updated and visitors can trace your changes. You can show a changelog on any page by adding $ changelog somewhere in the document. Keep an Eye on Interesting PagesMay be there are some pages that you like and where you are interested in updates. If you are aware of a feed reader, you can subscribe to the RSS feed of a page and stay informed. Protecting Your PrivacyTrust us. Some day, we will write this section. What's Next? Our code monkeys are hard working to bring you more shiny features and improve the existing ones. This is a list of topics that we want to achieve and that keep us busy. Nevertheless, feel free to suggest other features or improvements. (See the feedback section below)
